I grew up Catholic in Lake Charles, Louisiana where I went to church with the family every Sunday and attended Catholic schools. I still practice my catholic upbringing today; I believe in God; I take great solace in the Bible and Jesus has always and still is a source of inspiration for me. The two biblical verses that most influenced me are Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” and John 14:12, “Whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.”
I have always been FASCINATED about what reaching my full potential and becoming the best version on myself could look like. Since I was a very small boy I have asked a lot of big questions, most of which the adults could not answer, such as: “What happens when we die?” “Have we lived before?” “What is my purpose?” “Where does fear come from?” and “Why are some people great while others are not?”
Over my sixty years I have prayed in Christian churches, Mosques, synagogues, Buddhist temples and yes at Scientology churches.
Now regarding the big “controversy” that fake news, tabloids, religious bigots and haters want to headline with, namely my interest in Scientology. Well, the answer is yes. I have studied Scientology for 20 years and have been using many of the practical applications taught by the non-denominational Church of Scientology. I know people who study Scientology who are Jewish, Baptist, Catholic, Protestant, and Muslim. While Catholicism is my faith-based religious upbringing, Scientology is an applied religion for handling the day-to-day issues in life.
By the way, while I am a Catholic and a Scientologist, I am many other things as well. I am also a husband, father of two, an employer of 1500, an author of business books, a CEO, founder, partner and co-founder of 11 businesses. I am also a golfer and a scuba diver. I love fine art, a great political debate, Cuban cigars, going to great fight, and pulling pranks on people.
The point is, like you, I am interested in many things and can be many things. But to be clear I believe in one God, and I believe in the freedom of religion as a fundamental human right that you and I have to choose and practice our own religion (or no religion) without interference, as enshrined in the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
